The recommended shorting plus is an IRISO P/N IMSA-9206H-GF. When switching the ID number by remote control, use a JAE P/N PS-8SLA-D4C2 (8-pin) connector as mating connector. NOTE Four short plugs for SCSI ID and PARITY are mounted on the PCB. Please adjust these short plugs to meet your application requirements. Parity Setting -------------- Parity is implemented and selectable via a jumper option. Data parity can be checked by shorting the parity pin. The parity pin is shorted when shipped. The recommended shorting plug is an IRISO P/N ISMA- 9206H-GF (2.5 mm pitch). Parity | Parity Pin --------+----------- Enable | Short --------+----------- Disable | Open Termination Resistor Packs -------------------------- The line termination resistors are inserted in IC sockets on the PCB and can be removed. The termination resistor packs should be removed during multidrive configuration except for those lying at both ends of the SCSI bus. Termpower --------- The drive is equipped with termpower. Switch over the selection pins when necessary. +5V | + | | | +++ | F3 |o| | Fuse JP2 |o|JP10 TERMPWR +---+ +---+ +++ O------+o o+-+o o+---o | +---+ +---+ o---+ | 1 AMP | +++ +-Receiver | | | |R1 +-------+X+------------- DB7 0,P BSY,SEL | +++ | +-+ O--------------------+---o-------------o | | ++++-+ | +-Driver | |R2| || | +-------+X+------------- | | +++|+++ +-+ | | +++|| |R1 OUT C/D,I/O,MSG,REQ o-----++++ O--------------------+-------o----------+ +-Driver | | +++ +------+X| | | | |R2 +-+ | | +++ | | +++ | +----------+ | +++ | | |R1 IN ACK,ATN,RST +++ O-------------------------------o----------+ +-Receiver | +++ +--+X| | | |R2 +-+ | +++ | +++ | R1: 220 R2: 330 ********************************************************************** I N S T A L L ********************************************************************** YE-DATA YD-3081B/3082B/3083B/3084B PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS RDB-528002 Notes on Installation ===================== Drive mounting -------------- horizontally vertically +-----------------+ +--+ +--+ +------------------+ | | | +-----+ +-----+ | | | x | | | | | | | | x+----------------+x +-+-----------------+-+ | | | | | | ||x x|| +---------------------+ | | | | | | || x x || | | | | | | || x x || x x | | | | | | || x x || +------x------x-------+ | +-----+ +-----+ | || xx || +-+------x--x-------+-+ +--+ +--+ || x x || | xx | || x x || | x x | || x x || +---x--------x----+ |x x| x x x++----------------++x UNACCEPTABLE! UNACCEPTABLE! Never install PC board on the Top! Mounting -------- The drive can be mounted either horizontally or vertically. If mounting the drive horizontally, make sure that the PCB lies on the bottom of the drive. An orientation with the front panel on the top is not feasible. There are eigth tapped mounting holes in the frame, to facilitate the mounting of the drive into an enclosure. Rubber vibration isolators are provided between the head disk assembly and the enclosure frame. To maximize vibration isolation, however, it is necessary to provide a minimum of 1.5 mm clearance between the head disk assembly and the enclosure. This clearance allows for movement of the drive during acceleration. When installing a cleaning fan in the enclosure, make sure that the drive is not directly exposed to the air flow. The remommend air velocity in the vinvinity of the drive is 0.3 m/s. An interface cable and a frame ground cable are required for drive operation. The SCSI ID blocks (plugs) should be properly set and the line termination resistor pack removed for multidrive configuration. Cautions Avoid an yaction which would expose the inside of the head disk assembly (HDA), which seals the disk and read/write heads, to the ambient air. Avoid any action which would cause the positioner motor to rotate from the outside. Front Panel (optional) ---------------------- The front panel, which is optional, is attached to the frame with two screws. Electrical Interface -------------------- The drive is connected to the host system via a J1 SCSI connector, a J2 DC power connector, a J4 frame ground terminal and as an option, a J5 LED connector. The SCSI ID pins and the "PARITY" pin need to be adjusted. J1 SCSI Connector ----------------- The YD-308XB series drive uses single-ended drivers and receivers. All assigned signals are terminated with 220 to +5VDC and 330 to ground. A 50 pin shrouded-head, nonshielded SCSI connector is used. The connection cable should not be longer than 6.0 meters. The recommended SCSI connector is a Fujitsu FCN-745Q050-AU or equivalent. J2 Power Connector ------------------ The J2, DC power connector is an AMP P/N 350211-1. The recommended mating connector is an AMP P/N 1-480424. Drive power consumption and cable length should be the main considerations when selecting a DC power cable. Also ensure that the cable wires match the connector pins. +----------------------- | +------------+ pin 1 +12V | | 4 3 2 1 |J2 pin 2 +12V Return GND | +------------+ pin 3 + 5V Return GND | pin 4 + 5V +----+ | | | Frame Ground Terminal --------------------- The J4 connector is a Fast-On Tab AMP P/N 61726-2. However communication on the SCSI bus is allowed between only two SCSI devices at any given time. When two SCSI devices communicate in the SCSI bus, one acts as an initiator and other acts as an target. The initiator orginates an orginates an operation and the target performs the operation. YD-3082 and YD-3042 have a fixed role as the target. ********************************************************************** F E A T U R E S ********************************************************************** YE-DATA YD-3081B/3082B/3083B/3084B PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS RDB-528002 Introduction ------------ The YD-308XB series drive is a high capacity 3.5 inch hard disk drive with a Small Computer System Interface. Four models are available: YD-3081B, YD-3082B, YD-3083B and YD-3084B. The drive has the following main features: 1. SCSI Interface The 308XB series drive uses a Small Computer System Interface which complies with ANSIX3.131 and the Common Command Set Rev. 4B specifications. In addition, the interface supports various optional commands. 2. High Capacity Due to the adoption of 2-7 RLL coding method, a capacity of 45 MB per disk has been realized. 3. High Reliability A built-in, automatic read/write error correction function ensures reliable data storage. 4. High Speed An embedded servo system has served to reduce average access time to as little as 28 milliseconds. Also, the use of a 1:1 interleave track formation has enabled high speed multi-sector read/write. 5. Compactness The 308XB series drive takes up half the space of a half-height 5.25 inch drive. Two drives can be fitted into a single 5.25 inch half-height slot. Furthermore, the drive weighs a light 750g. 6. High-performance Mechanics The drive features an internal air filtration system and an innovative headretract mechanism that automatically moves the heads to the CSS (Contact Start Stop) area on power down so that data remains safe and secure. If a "SPINDLE STOP" command is received, the spindle motor will stop and the LED will go out. Should an unrecover- able error occur, the spindle motor will stop and the LED will flash on and off. Busy LED (Red) -------------- BUSY LED is turned on during the entire time that any command is being executed, whether or not the drive is accessing the SCSI bus. The BUSY LED also lights when a command is issued to the drive during the start-up procedure and stays lit until the start-up procedure is completed. Note For those models equipped with a J5 connector, the specifiations in READY LED and BUSY LED are made possible by connecting the LED via this connector.
